Our Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr series this year took us to Hijaz, a region rich in civilizations and cultures. We end this blessed month praying and hoping to see the holy month next year inshaAllah in the best of health and safety.
In a nutshell, this year’s Ramadan series informed us about the following:
1-The Hijaz region consists of four main cities: Makah, Madinah, Jeddah and Taif.
2-Makkah and Madinah are the two holy cities visited annually by millions of Muslims, and they are the most important reason for them to visit Saudi Arabia.
3-The Hijaz region is a melting pot of diverse cultures and civilizations, and is home to people from around the world. Its cities are considered to be ideal for residence, work and tourism.
4-Shabana – a celebration held in mid-Sha’ban to welcome the holy month – is observed among the people of Hijaz.
5-The Hijazi table in Ramadan features specialities such as luqaimat, sobia, foul and tamis.
6- There are ample historical places in Hijaz that are worth a visit.
7-Social communications in Hijaz are enhanced by Eid activities, gathering around the dining table to eat sweets such as ludo, and taking part in folk dances.
We hope that our Ramadan series was able to enlighten our readers and visitors to the Kingdom about the glorious Hijaz. We will continue this informative series next year as well. Stay tuned to find out which region of Saudi Arabia is spotlighted next!
